Which styles work where
Not every platform treats decorative characters the same way, and the difference is worth knowing before you commit a username to one.

Where fancy text is the wrong choice
Anywhere the words have to be read, searched or acted on. A styled bio line looks distinctive; a styled sentence in a post is harder to read, invisible to search, and announced as a run of symbol names by a screen reader. The useful rule is one styled element for emphasis, ordinary letters for everything a reader has to get through.
How it works, and the one catch
These styles are not fonts. Each one is a separate block of real Unicode characters, so the styled letters travel with the text itself rather than depending on formatting the destination has to support. That is why a copied result keeps its look in a profile, a message or a post that offers no formatting controls at all.
The catch is worth knowing before you use it anywhere important. A screen reader announces the underlying code points rather than the letters you meant, so bold written in styled characters can be read out as a string of symbol names or skipped entirely. Search engines index them poorly for the same reason. Use these for a display name, a bio flourish or a post that wants to stand out, and keep ordinary letters for anything a person needs to read straight through or a search engine needs to understand.
Support varies by device. Almost everything renders on current desktop and mobile systems, but older phones and some apps substitute a box for a character they do not carry. The styles nearest the top of the list are the most widely supported, so when a result matters, prefer those and check it once on the platform you are posting to.
Questions
Will these styles work in my Instagram bio?
Yes. The styling lives in the characters themselves rather than in formatting, so pasting into a bio, a display name or a caption keeps the look. Script, bold, small caps and fraktur are the most reliably supported.
Why does one style show boxes and another does not?
The device font carries some of these Unicode blocks and not others. A box means that particular device has no glyph for that character. The styles near the top of the list have the widest support across phones and desktops.
Can I use fancy text in a username?
Usually, though many platforms restrict which characters a handle may contain even when a display name accepts anything. Test it before you rely on it, and remember that a styled name is harder for other people to search for or type.
Does fancy text hurt my reach?
It can. Search and in-app discovery treat styled letters as different characters from ordinary ones, so a styled keyword is generally not matched against the ordinary word. Keep the words you want found in plain letters.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
